STUDENT UNION NIGHT MANAGER

SUMMARY:

The Student Union Night Manager is responsible for the operation of a student union facility, at an institution of higher education, after normal working hours. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Makes routine patrols of building, checking for fire and safety hazards, disturbances, unauthorized personnel, and unlocked doors and windows.

Reports vandalism and accidents occurring in building to appropriate institution personnel.

Coordinates cash control and handling procedures by distributing change to cashiers, clearing cash registers, reconciling balances, and placing money in safe.

Prepares reports regarding business activities during shifts and weekends.

Explains services and prices to customers using student union facility.

Handles and resolves customer complaints and concerns.

Inspects facility for needed repairs or preventative maintenance and reports to physical plant personnel.

Supervises a small staff of clerical, part-time, or student workers by making work assignments and observing performance.

   Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures. Knowledge of business operations in a revenue producing facility. Ability to coordinate cash flow and reconcile cash balances. Ability to oversee the work of clerical, part-time, and/or student workers. Ability to identify hazards or needed maintenance in a building facility.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus four years of experience in a revenue producing facility or a related area, including one year of supervisory experience.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
