AGRICULTURE PROGRAM COORDINATOR
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION This position manages all of the Northark Agriculture Program's lab facilities including the high tunnel, greenhouse, produce sales, and work study students. This position also supports the Northark Agriculture Program by assisting in outreach efforts, Northark Agriculture Club activities, major program events, assistance with classroom labs, and helping to maintain the program's relationship with the University of Arkansas Extension Service. This position is a 9-month position; middle of August - middle of May.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Manage Northark farm produce production in the Agriculture Program’s lab facilities. This duty is performed daily, about 30% of the time. 2. Coordinate all produce sales from Northark farm to on/off campus locations. This duty is performed weekly, about 15% of the time. 3. Co-sponsor the Northark Agriculture Club and assist with major Agriculture Club events. This duty is performed weekly, about 25% of the time. 4. Assist in maintaining the program’s relationship with the University of Arkansas Extension Service including the grant work and workshops. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time. 5. Assist and maintain program relationships with Arkansas and Boone County Farm Bureau including collegiate Farm Bureau activities. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time. 6. Assist the program coordinator with several miscellaneous duties such as, but not limited to, outreach efforts in area schools, assisting with lab preparations, and presentation of program promotional material in the community, etc. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Four year college degree, or equivalent experience resulting in broad knowledge of a field related to the job, such as accounting, marketing, business administration, agriculture etc, plus 4 years related experience and/or training, and 2 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 0 subordinate supervisor(s) who supervise(s) a total of 5 employee(s). Supervises 5 non-supervisory employee(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED Under general supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on routine work, referring all questionable cases to supervisor.
PLANNING Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a group of employees, all performing basically the same type of work.
DECISION MAKING Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance; the latter of which would affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree.
MENTAL DEMAND Close mental demand. Operations requiring close and continuous attention for control of operations. Operations requiring intermittent direct thinking to determine or select the most applicable way of handling situations regarding the organization’s administration and operations; also to determine or select material and equipment where highly variable sequences are involved.

USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS Regular personal computer support, technical help, and/or basic software support, database analysis, level I technician, project coordination, installation and help desk.
ACCURACY Probable errors of internal scope should ordinarily be detected within the department or office in which they occur, but may affect the work of others within the unit, requiring additional expenditure of time to trace errors and make all necessary corrections. Errors would require a moderate amount of time to correct.
PUBLIC CONTACT Regular contacts with patrons, either within the office or in the field. May also involve occasional self-initiated contacts to patrons. Lack of tact and judgment may result in a limited type of problem for the organization.
EMPLOYEE CONTACT Contacts of considerable importance within the department or office, such as those required in coordination of effort, or frequent contacts with other departments or offices, generally in normal course of performing duties. Requires tact in discussing problems and presenting data and making recommendations, but responsibility for action and decision reverts to others.
