ADHE scholarships deadline June 1
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The final deadline to apply for all Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) financial aid programs – including the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship – is Sunday, June 1 with an exception for residents of weather-damaged Independence, Faulkner, Pulaski, Randolph and White counties.
“Students have had the opportunity to apply online for more than 20 different financial aid programs since January 1,” said ADHE Director Shane Broadway, “and the deadline is fast approaching.”
The online YOUniversal scholarship application will be accessible on the ADHE website www.adhe.edu or the mobile application until midnight Sunday but will be unavailable to accept any new applications or supporting documents after the deadline passes, he explained.
“We are making an exception for students who live in the state disaster-declared counties,” Broadway said, “because we know many of them were directly impacted by the storm. They can call us after the deadline passes if they need an extension or help with the process.”
The Arkansas Department of Higher Education is responsible for carrying out the policy directives of the AHECB, approving and reviewing college and university academic programs, and developing funding recommendations for the state’s 11 public universities and 22 public two-year colleges as well as several other post-secondary entities.
In addition, the agency is responsible for distributing approximately $150 million annually from state revenues and lottery funds intended to ease the financial burden of students seeking an education beyond high school. For more information, visit www.adhe.edu
